In news– Recently, the Union Minister for MSME mentioned about the Udyam Sakhi portal in Lok Sabha.
About the portal-
- It was launched in March 2018 to provide information regarding financial schemes, policies and programmes of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to existing/prospective women entrepreneurs in the MSME sector.
- It was developed by the Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (IDEMI), an organisation under the Ministry of MSME.
- It is a network for nurturing social entrepreneurship creating business models revolving around low-cost products and services to resolve social inequities.
- It seeks to encourage women entrepreneurs and to aid, counsel, assist and protect their interests.
- It also helps women to start, build and grow their businesses.
- It preserves free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.
- It provides assistance primarily through its Programmatic Functions:
- Entrepreneurship Learning Tools e.g. Preparing Business Plan.
- Incubation facility.
- Training programmes for fundraising.
- Providing MENTOR.
- One to one Investor Meet.
- Provide Market Survey Facility.
- Learning and Development (Education, Information, Technical Assistance & Training).
- It recognises that women entrepreneurs in the industry are critical to economic recovery and strength, in building the nation’s future, and to helping India compete in today’s global marketplace.
