In news– During the World Expo at Dubai, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting launched TEJAS (Training for Emirates Jobs And Skills), a Skill India International Project to train overseas Indias.
About TEJAS project-
- It is aimed at skilling, certification and overseas employment of Indians.
- It is also aimed at creating pathways to enable the Indian workforce to get equipped for skill and market requirements in UAE.
- The project aims at creating a 10,000 strong Indian workforce in the UAE during the initial phase.
About World Expo-
- World Expos, officially known as International Registered Exhibitions, are a global gathering of nations dedicated to finding solutions to pressing challenges of our time by offering a journey inside a universal theme through engaging and immersive activities.
- Expo 2020 is a World Expo, currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
- Originally scheduled for 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly in Paris named Dubai as the host on 27 November 2013.
- It welcomes tens of millions of visitors, allows countries to build extraordinary pavilions and transform the host city for years to come.
- The first World Expo – the Great Exhibition – took place in London in 1851.
