Recently a Pune based company named Mylab Discovery Solutions Pvt Ltd which specialises in the molecular diagnostic kit has developed the first Indigenously made test kit for COVID-19.
Key highlights
- The kit ‘Mylab PathoDetect COVID-19 Qualitative PCR kit’ is the first one to receive commercial approval from the Indian FDA/ Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
- Mylab is the only Indian company to have achieved 100 per cent sensitivity and specificity in the ICMR evaluation.
- The kit has been made as per the guidelines of the WHO
- The Mylab has also received a clearance from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to manufacture the COVID-19 Qualitative kit, in the same facility.
- The newly made COVID-19 kit was evaluated at ICMR
- According to the company, Mylab’s COVID-19 test kit can screen and detect coronavirus infection within 2.5 hours as compared with over 7 hours taken by current protocols.
