In news– The Ministry of Rural Development has recently said 28 states and Union Territories have adopted the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) for land records.
What is NGDRS?
- It is a citizen centric software designed for online property registration, uploading of relevant documents, and booking online appointments with the SRO for documents registration.
- The Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development is implementing the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) as a central sector scheme, with 100% funding from the central government.
- Its benefits are reduction in land disputes, check on fraudulent transactions, SMS and email enabled alerts related to transactions on property, external system integrations can be provided as required.
- The application is specically designed for the use of sub registrars, citizens and apex users from registration departments.
- NGDRS facilitates states to create state specic instance and congure the soware as per requirement.
- It provides for E KYC – UID based authentication with the help of biometric or iris at the time of admission.
- It provides hierarchy based maker/ checker facility.
- It gives email enabled alerts to citizens and users.
