What is the Jan Soochna Portal?

  • It is a single window portal, launched by the Rajasthan government, hosting information and databases on 32 different schemes of 13 departments such as the employment guarantee programme, sanitation, the public distribution system
  • It aims to offer wider and easier access to the State’s increasingly digitised databases, thus increasing transparency and accountability in governance. It has 82 different information request options and information is given out in Hindi and English.
  • It not only explains the schemes but also provides real-time information on beneficiaries, authorities in charge, progress. Section 4(2) of the RTI Act, specifically enjoins upon public authorities to publish information proactively so that the people need not file applications under the law to obtain information.
