To further improve the buying and selling process for ministries, departments and other agencies government is planning to integrate its central public procurement portal (CPPP) with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM)
Key highlights
The plan is to add over 100 new features in the existing portal to make it more transparent as part of GeM 4.0.
- Features include
- Timely payments to sellers
- Demand aggregation
- Allowing buyers to place a single order for quantities to be delivered over a period with a defined schedule
- Advanced search engine
- Crowdsourcing of sellers
- Use of blockchain technology for bulk procurement of pharma
- Improving catalog by adding parameters and price variance on the platform, and
- Introduction of seller rating.
- Incident management policy overhaul
- Buyer-seller collaboration, and
- Dedicated corners for public sector units and large buyers
- Buyer and sellers would be incentivized on the portal in the form of non-monetary credits by completing key tasks like timely payments, and catalog correction.
About Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP)
- Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP) of the Government of India is operational since 2012.
- It hosts the Government eProcurement System (GePNIC) developed by the National Informatics Centre in close coordination with the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
- CPPP provides a single-point access to all the tendering information on various procurements made across the country.
- It facilitates :
- ePublishing – Publishing of tender enquiries, corrigendum & award of contract details.
- XML – Facilitates publishing of tender comprehensive information of other eProcurement systems
- eProcurement facilitated through – GePNIC© implemented in 500+ Central Government Ministries/ Departments and Public Sector Units, it is also being rolled out across India
