About the INS Chilka-
- The committee members paid tributes to the fallen sailors at Prerna Sthal, the War Memorial.
- They held discussions with senior officers of the naval establishment and visited various training facilities and trainee accommodation blocks.
- Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka is the premier basic training establishment for sailors of the Indian Navy.
- The concept of training the mind, body and soul to obtain a ‘Sea Warrior’ with the right attitude has been adopted.
- It is located in the coastal state of Odisha within the scenic surroundings in the vicinity of Chilka Lake.
- It is the only ab-initio training establishment of the Indian Navy, which trains more than 6600 raw recruits annually.
