Odisha to merge 8000 schools with low enrollment under NITI Aayog’s SATH-E programme

What is the SATH -E programme?

SATH-E ‘Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital Education’ programme aims to bring about transformation in the elementary and secondary school education in the chosen states namely Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
It is based on formal agreements with the States and will be funded through a cost-sharing mechanism between NITI Aayog and the participating states.

Key features of SATH-E

The program is being implemented in these States along with knowledge partners Boston Consulting Group (BCG) & Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL) consortium with NITI Aayog as a facilitator and coordinator in the process.
The project is being implemented in three phases over a period of 30 months, coming to an end in 2020.
The two phases of the project have been completed. It is now in the third phase of implementation, which will last for 18 months.
SATH-E aims to create role model States for education and mainstream ‘islands of excellence’ across the country to facilitate the qualitative and quantitative transformation of learning outcomes.
Marrying technology with need-based, data-driven assessment and a ‘giving it what it takes’ approach – be it innovation, incubation, external third party funding and Public-Private- Philanthropic Partnership (PPPP) experimentation – SATH-E puts the States in the driver’s seat to transform education at scale.
The aim is to make the entire governmental school education system responsive, aspirational and transformational for every child.
