In news– The leaders meeting of Major Economies Forum(MEF) on Energy and Climate Change, was convened virtually by United States of America on 20th April 2023.

- The meeting was chaired by President Joeseph Biden, USA and was attended by Heads of State and Ministers from across the world.
- Together the group represented 20 major economies of the world.
About the forum-
- The Forum was launched in 2009 by US President Barack Obama.
- It is aimed at facilitating candid dialogue among major emitting countries, both developed and developing, to garner the political leadership needed to advance efforts against climate change.
- The first preparatory meeting of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate met April 27–28, 2009, in Washington, DC.
- As of June 2022, the 26 major economies participating in MEF are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Vietnam, and the European Union.
