What is Tamiflu and how is it used?
- Tamiflu is a prescription medicine used as a prophylaxis and to treat the symptoms of Influenza A and B as well as Swine Flu (H1N1 Influenza A). Tamiflu may be used alone or with other medications.
- Tamiflu belongs to a class of drugs called Antivirals, Influenza; Neuraminidase Inhibitors.
- It is not known if Tamiflu is safe and effective in children younger than 2 weeks of age.

Swine Flu (H1N1 Influenza A)
- Swine flu is a highly infectious respiratory disease caused by one of many swine influenza A viruses that affects pigs.
- Human-to-human transmission of swine influenza viruses is rare. The swine influenza virus, on the other hand, may be transmitted to humans through contact with infected pigs or polluted conditions.
- Cough, fever, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, headache, body ache, and other symptoms may occur.
- The sub-types are dependent on factors such as the origin host, geographic origin, number of strains, year of isolation, and so on
